Seeking our Next Senior Pastor 
Prayerfully seeking the shepherd God has prepared for our next season of ministry 
Second Birth Church (SBC) is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing Baptist congregation with a rich history of serving the Riverside community for more than 100 years. SBC is committed to worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, prayer, missions, and community outreach. As we enter this new season ministry, we are prayerfully seeking the pastor whom God has already prepared to shepherd our congregation. 
 
We are seeking  Spirit-led servant leader who faithfully proclaims the Gospel, demonstrates Christ-like character, and equips believers to grow their relationship with Jesus Christ. The successful candidate will meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. 
 
Position Summary
The Senior Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of Second Birth Church by:
  • Preaching and teaching the Word of God with biblical accuracy and practical application. 
  • Providing visionary leadership rooted in prayer and Scripture.
  • Shepherding the congregation through discipleship, pastoral care, and spiritual guidance.
  • Developing leaders and equipping members for ministry.
  • Working collaboratively with church leadership, ministry teams, and volunteers.
  • Fostering unity while advancing the church’s mission and vision.  
Required Qualifications 
  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
  • Meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. 
  • Licensed and ordained Christian minister.
  • Demonstrated Christ-like character integrity, humility, and spiritual maturity. 
  • Strong biblical preaching and teaching skills.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide pastoral care, spiritual leadership, and discipleship.
  • Proven leadership, administrative, and organizational abilities. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers.
  • Commitment to serving a diverse, multigenerational congregation while fostering unity and spiritual growth.
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Minimum of six (6) years of pastoral leadership experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Pastor at least fifty (50) individuals.
  • Experience leading church growth, revitalization, or strategic ministry initiatives. 
  • Experience mentoring and developing ministry leaders, deacons, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to youth, young adult, and family ministries. 
  • Experience with community outreach, missions, and evangelism.
  • Financial stewardship, budgeting, and church administration experience.
  • Commitment to continuing education, leadership development, and lifelong learning. 
  • Experience using technology and digital communication to support ministry.

  • Current resumé highlighting ministry, educational, and professional experience. 
  • Copies of ministerial license and ordination certificate.
  • Official or unofficial seminary transcript(s).
  • Four (4) references: two (2) ministerial references and two (2) personal references.
  • Video recording link of a sermon preached within the past three (3) months.
  • Recent professional photograph.
